Taxiway and Apron Rehabilitation - Ottawa International Airport

Following the founding of HM Aero, senior members of the project team were asked to continue their work with the Ottawa International Airport Authority initiated at a previous firm for the design work related to the rehabilitation of Airport’s taxiways and aprons.

HM Aero’s engineering and project management team worked closely with the client to develop staging plans and engineering strategies for the rehabilitation of Taxiways A, B, E, J, M, T, and Q, and Apron I.

HM Aero was also tasked with coordinating a design team and leading consultations with the client throughout the 6-month assignment. HM Aero was responsible for the coordination of a team of airfield civil and electrical engineers and played an active role in conveying airport operational and regulatory information between the client and the technical design team. HM Aero’s work also involved performing site inspections and providing input to determine taxiway closure staging solutions to maintain the operational availability of the facility on a 24-hour basis.

The project team led the preparation and delivery of 50%, 90%, 95%, and Issued for Tender design packages, cost estimates, and construction staging plans and schedules. HM Aero staff also prepared Plans of Construction Operations for each work package and coordinated approvals with NAV CANADA to ensure the continued viability of operations.
